Taħdita dwar l-Għarbi ta’ Tripli

Il-Prof. Christophe Pereira se jagħti taħdita pubblika bl-Ingliż bit-titlu “Conditionals in Tripoli Arabic”. Din se ssir l-Erbgħa 26 t’Ottubru, fil-5.30pmfis-Sala Pietru Pawl Saydon (ALT), l-Università ta’ Malta. It-taħdita hija miftuħa għall-istudenti, l-akkademiċi, u l-pubbliku ġenerali.

Christophe Pereira huwa Professur tal-Għarbi tal-Magreb fl-INALCO (l-Istitut tal-Lingwi u l-Kulturi Orjentali), Università f’Pariġi li magħha d-Dipartiment tal-Malti ilu jikkollabora mis-snin disgħin. Fir-riċerka tiegħu jispeċjalizza fid-deskrizzjoni tal-Għarbi mitkellem fi Tripli, il-Libja. Fl-2008 kiseb id-dottorat u fl-2010 ppubblika monografija dwar l-istess varjetà. Minn dak iż-żmien kompla jistħarreġ u jirfina din id-deskrizzjoni, b’xogħol li jiffoka fuq il-morfosintassi (il-forom tal-futur, il-partiċelli kondizzjonali, id-dimostrattivi, il-verbi kopulari) u l-korrelazzjoni bejn il-prosodija, is-sintassi, u l-istruttura tad-diskors. Ir-riċerka tiegħu tittratta wkoll ir-rappreżentazzjoni tal-maskulinità fil-prattiċi lingwistiċi tal-ġuvintur fi Tripli. Dan l-aħħar ta kontribut fl-Enċiklopedija Lingwistika ta’ Al Andalus, flimkien mal-mibki Prof. Frederico Corriente u l-Prof. Ángeles Vicente, fl-Università ta’ Zaragoza, fi Spanja.

Fil-ġimgħa li se jagħmel Malta, il-Prof. Pereira se jagħti taħditiet u jmexxi seminars mal-istudenti tal-Malti li qed isegwu l-kors tal-Baċellerat u oħrajn postgradwatorji.

Prof. Christophe Pereira will give a public lecture in English on “Conditionals in Tripoli Arabic” on Wednesday 26th October 2022 in Sala Pietru Pawl Saydon (ALT) at the campus of the University of Malta in Tal-Qroqq. The talk is open to all students, academic and the general public and is being hosted by the Department of Maltese in the Faculty of Arts of the University.

Christophe Pereira is Professor of Maghrebi Arabic at INALCO (Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales), a university in Paris with which the Department of Maltese has been collaborating since the 1990s. His work mainly concerns the description of the Arabic spoken in Tripoli (Libya). He defended his PhD in 2008 and published a monograph on this variety in 2010. Since then, he has pursued and refined his description, with work primarily concerned with morphosyntax (futures, conditionals, demonstratives, verbal copulas) and the correlation between prosody, syntax, and information structure. His research also concerns the performance of masculinities in the language practices of young men in Tripoli. Recently he contributed to the Linguistic Encyclopedia of Al Andalus in 5 volumes, together with the late Professor Federico Corriente and Professor Ángeles Vicente of the University of Zaragoza.

Christophe Pereira will be spending a week in Malta, giving lectures and conducting seminars with students of Maltese at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
